This reads an environment variable HTTP2 and if set switches on gzip compression as required by the specs.

Michael, Should this be picked up in Foswiki 2.1.1 patch release? Otherwise it waits for summer. Are the HTTP2 or SPDY env variable documented anywhere? What sets it?

-- GeorgeClark - 10 Mar 2016

These variables are set by the mod_http2 or fastcgi modules in the web server and propagated down to the application backend that way. Unfortunately there is no other way to find out whether the browser is talking http2 (like a http header or so).
