and thanks for adjusting the suite to make it run under trunk wink

in the interests of "backwards compatibility" :/ , i have retained the previous value of no specified separator (that is, ", " is used to separate the list items). i have added $nop to the list of special values that separator can be to provide a means to combine the list items without a separator.
