This question about Configuration: More info required
mod_perl and I can not logon
- 13 Sep 2016
After the activete mod_perl I cannot logon in my foswiki.
After the restart of the apache I can logon 3-4 times, but after that I get this:
I don't know what is the error.
Hello Sebaj, Foswiki 1.1.8 is really old and no longer maintained. You might have better results with mod_fcgid instead of mod_perl. We've had a lot more users on that platform.
I'd like to try to recreate your issues on Foswiki 2.1. If you could provide more detailed information about your apache and foswiki configurations, including any modules you are manually loading at startup, the type of authentication and password manager being used, etc.
(I'm going to delete your duplicate question posted as Mod_Perlandcannotlogon)
The user field showing the <multi_param> string smells of actually a compatibility issue in CGI The recent versions of the perl CGI module has added a new call - multi_param, which we use in newer versions of foswiki. I can't quite understand though how the name of a new subroutine would end up in the user field.

I've set up a 2.1.2+ system with mod_perl and have been unable to cause any issues. Logged in and out 15-20 times with no failures.

password manager > Foswiki::Users::HtPasswdUser
authentication > Foswiki::LoginManager::TemplateLogin
I will test the fastcgi modul, and give you feedback next week.
