We're running a department wiki (TWiki 4.2.3) in German. It's set up so that umlauts are valid in topic names, but umlauts can still cause trouble elsewhere.

Problem: When an image with an umlaut in the filename is attached to a topic, that image is not shown.

Suggestion: When uploading, there's already a conversion of spaces to underscores -- this check should be expanded to also convert umlauts using the same logic that's used by TWiki:TWiki.TWikiRegistration.

at first sight, this looks like a duplicate of Item5485 to me -- could you please take a look and/or elaborate a bit on your setup (which webserver/OS are you using)?
