The spec for SEARCH describes multiple and limit parameters so you can be led to believe that limit also works so you can limit the number of lines returned by a multiple="on" search.

This is not the case. The limit parameter works only on the number of topics that the search will find.

Changing the code is dangerous as some people will have learned and used current behavior which is not wrong as such.

So I will update the docu to be precise.
