Priority: Normal
Current State: Closed
Released In: 2.1.5
Target Release: patch
Prior to 2.1.4 the tools/configure script could be used to programmatically retrieve configuration settings. (i.e.,
tools/configure -getcfg {Store}
as found in the
InstallationGuide) In 2.1.4, the output includes a non-parseable plaintext message ("** Be sure to run as 'perl -CA tools/configure' if any settings will use utf-8 data") before the requested content and there's no way to suppress this message.
Please consider omitting the message entirely, or suppressing the message if -noprompt is specified.

Confirming. This message is too much. I should not have added it where I did. Would it be better to send messages like this to STDERR as well? Ideally it would be better to examine what is being "-set" and error if it appears to be incorrectly coded utf-8. Though I'm not sure how to do that.
