(10:38:13 AM) gac410: Ah... what is it.    I have a fresh 14.04.1 system and it has -b and -d as well.
(10:38:18 AM) Guest7147: ok that was stupid   apache2-utils wasn't installed...  so htpasswd was not available   it wasn't an issue with the -b option
