Here's how to repro:

go to http://trunk.foswiki.org/System/BeginnersStartHere?slideshow=on;template=viewslideshow#1.
hit the -> key and quickly afterwards the <- key before the slide transition animation finished.

result: your browser ends up in an endless loop switching slides back and forth with no way to stop it other than killing the browser

I'll going to move the current trunk slideshow plugin to scratch and bring in the one from the 1.1.x to work onwards from there.
