Item11782: Be able to specify the Encoding of files generated by the AttachContentPlugin
Priority: Enhancement
Current State: No Action Required
Released In: n/a
Target Release: n/a
Wouldn't it be nice if
AttachContentPlugin had a setting which allows to specify an Encoding for the files it generates that is different from the Encoding used by the system by default? For example, I want to be able to get UTF-8 encoded files even if my system hasn't been set to use UTF-8 encoding in general.
Second thought for another cool feature: What if I want the generated text files to have CR+LF line endings (as used by Windows) instead of the default LF line endings (on Unix systems)? A setting which would allow me to choose exactly that, would be really cool, wouldn't it?
It would be enough for me to be able to specify the above two settings (Encoding and Line Ending types) system wide, but I fear
AttachContentPlugin won't generate UTF-8 encoded text files, even if the system wide setting actually is utf-8, or will it?

i'm using utf8 as default system-wide and got from
AttachContentPlugin UTF8 text file. IMO, the plugin simply take what find between the start-end and save it, so if the source is UTF8 - the file will be UTF8 too..

Could you provide an example of non-UTF8 text and desired output in UTF-8?

I've attached a small sample file in two encodings and with different line endings. The one in the
iso-8859-15
folder is the one I get by
AttachContentPlugin on my Wiki, the one in the
utf-8
folder I made with Notepad++ I will try to switch my Wiki to full UTF8 as proposed by Jozef. Line end differences are no problem for my use case, but the generated files need to be utf8 encoded to be directly reuseable.

Removed myself from the
WaitingFor field because if it is as Jozef said and we get Unicode out of an Unicode Wiki that's fine. And we have 2016, so everything should talk Unicode by now, shouldn't it?
