I uploaded a 35Meg deb, and it got to 100%, but then the afterAttachHandler timed out, causing the attachment not to be registered in the topic (though it is in pub), and it not being in the repository.

adding a 'rebuild repo' restHandler would help separate the bits

Perhaps a simpler way to solve this would be to run the repository creation in the background (&) ... I didn't test it, though.

Sven, could you please try discover what it is that takes so long? (i.e. whether it's apt-ftparchive, or gnupg (did you setup gnupg?) ... you can run tools/debian-repository by hand on the given web.
