TopicTranslation does not work

-- StefanWeiss - 06 Oct 2011

Hello,

we want to use Foswiki as group wiki and therefore it should be possible that an article is available in several languages (English, German, Czech, Spanish - and maybe Chinese).
I activated the languages in configuration (Internationalization - Languages), now Buttons and standard text are available in those languages.

The I installed the TopicTranslationPlugin (which I understood to provide a translation for an WikiArticle) and activated it in confuguration. In WebPreferences I added the line "SET TOPICTRANSLATION = de, en, es, cs".

When I change language in then the buttons etc. are shown in different language but when I edit the article (f.e. original in DE, current language in EN), save it and change back to other language I got "translated information", original is overwritten.
If I use macros (f.e. %CURRENTLANGUAGE% )in WikiArticle then the Macro is displayed, not the value.

Is there a problem with configuration ? How can I check configuration or if Plugin has been loaded (is working) ?
Or is there a basic misunderstand in using the plugin ?

Thanks for the Help in advance

Stefan Weiss

The first place to start is the System.InstalledPlugins for your site. Check to see if there are any diagnostic messages listed for that extension. You might have a missing dependency. You can also check for missing dependencies by running the shell installer to do a dependency report for the extension.

perl TopicTranslationsPlugin_installer dependencies

The best place for debugging assistance is on the #foswiki IRC channel. You can get realtime help there.
