Attaching files with "doc" extension fails

I get the following when I try to attach a MS Word file with .doc or .docx file extension:

Error saving topic

During save of Web.Topic an error was found by the version control system

exec failed: No such file or directory

The files are showing up in the pub directory for the topic but do not appear as attachments on the topic page.

If I rename the files with .rtf extension, they upload fine.

Strange. AFAIK there is nothing in the core code that would single out .doc files. The error message kinda suggests you might be missing one or more required programs, such as RCS. Check configure for errors, and check in the Foswiki and Apache error logs for more information.
