$createtime in plainfile vs rcslite

I am working with some search queries that need to work on both rcslite and plainfile stores. I have read FasterAccessToCreatorData, but is it still possible query epoch time in META:TOPICINFO with the plain file store and use something like date= & $createtime in format? I am assuming that all seaches with plain file store is querying the actual txt file date meta data from the OS?

%SEARCH{ "search" type="query" scope="topic" date="2017-01-31" order="created" header="|*Creator* |*Created* |" format="|$createwikiusername |$createlongdate|"}%

PFS should work the same as RCS for this. If it doesn't let me know.
