How do I disable numbered lists in the WYSIWYG Editor?

I'm quite unhappy about the behaviour of the WYSIWYG editor towards numbers, and I did not find anything appropriate yet.

My problem is: I have to convert a huge heap of Word documents into Wiki pages, and of course these documents do contain a lot of a) numbered lists, and b) other kinds of lines starting with numbers followed or not followed by dots and/or tabs, for what reason ever.

What I'm trying to do is: Copy and paste the contents of a whole document into the WYSIWYG editor of the wiki. What I get is: loads of lines starting with "1." instead of the number they originally contained. Which is extremely frustrating. Is there any possibility to switch that off, or at least a workaround? Honestly, I'm quite desperate at the moment.

I think that this is a much deeper issue than just wysiwyg. Any number indented by 3 spaces will be treated as part of a list in Foswiki::Render and auto-numbered.
  1. Line 12345
  2. Line 33333

This is a core feature of TML, and I'm not sure how it would be turned off. If you view the wikitext for this topic, you'll see that the lines are numbered with 12345 and 33333, and still render as 1, 2. About the only way I can see to get the numbers treated literally is to surround them with <pre> tags. If you use other than 3-spaces, then they are not treated as lists at all and just wrap together.

Sigh. I wish the previous designers had implemented a different Syntax than that. This is extremely annoying. Especially because there are so many texts like this ...

  1. There is some numbered line here.

And now here is a paragraph which somehow belongs to that line.

  1. Another line there.

And another paragraph below it.

  1. And so on.

Guess what will happen to that numbered List now. Was: 1. 2. 3. - Is: 1. 1. 1.

And in a few weeks I will have to explain this to my skeptical users when I teach them how to use their new wiki. That will most certainly be lots of biiiig fun. frown, sad smile
