Test email configuration error

After I have setup the email in the configuration and want to test it by pressing "Test email configuration" I get the following error

Software error:

Undefined action TestEmail at D:/www/foswiki/bin/configure line 463.

For help, please send mail to the webmaster, giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

What could be the cause for this, since I have no idea I can not fix it frown, sad smile

Did you upgrade your system to Foswiki 1.1.5? It appears that you might be running bin/configure that was shipped with Foswiki 1.1.3. The line number corresponds to the older version of the script. Maybe your apache configuration is pointing to the wrong directory location.

Yes I used an old version and upgraded to 1.1.5.......

What do you propose I should do to solve the problem?

-- PeterSvendsen - 24 Sep 2012

  • Check your Web Server configuration. Is the bin directory pointing to the location where 1.1.5 is installed?
  • Look at the bin/configure script being run by the server. Check the length
    • Foswiki 1.1.5 - 35932
    • Foswiki 1.1.3 - 30644

If apache is pointing to the wrong directory, update the apache configuration. If the wrong version of the script is in the bin directory, the upgrade was faulty. re-do the upgrade, and make sure all the correct directories are copied into the upgraded system.

GeorgeClark: Thanks for the response.

I take your points one by one...
  • The Apache is pointing to the D: drive and to my www directory. I can access the wiki in general only the mail system doesnt work...
  • If I look at the size D:\www\foswiki\bin\configure it has the size: 31571

So I took the 1.1.5 upgrade packet and installed it agian or took all of it and copied over my current directory.... then I tried to enter the configure foswiki since all now ofcause didnt work.. but as soon as I press configure foswiki I get "Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request................."

I'm a bit confused what just happend! Any idea.. how to proceed... ?

If I extract foswiki-1.1.5 to a new directory then I can access the configuration as text form when I press "Configure Foswiki"

I'm now even more confused..... frown, sad smile

On windows, after you expanded the upgrade, did you run the tools/ script to fix up the location of perl?

Might be best if you could get onto an IRC session on #foswiki so we could help you realtime.
