Mailnotify reporting everything since 1970

Hi Foswikiers

I'm encountering an odd problem. I have mailnotify setup to send me a digest of all the changes made in the web for each day. Everyday at midnight, a cron job activates the script and sends me the email.

It's working fine for two of my webs, but for one of my webs it sends me everything since 01 Jan 1970 (which I believe is the beginning of time in computer language). I can't see any differences between the way that I have set up the notifications.

The way that I set up the notifications are all the same: in the WebNotify topic, I have put my username followed by a ": *".

Would anyone know where to look to figure out what is causing?

Thx

Check the foswiki/working/work_areas/MailerContrib/ directory. There should be a file there for each web that has been processed by the mailnotify script. Each file contains the timestamp of the last run for that web. If for some reason the mailnotify script is unable to write the file, possibly due to directory permissions or ownership, it will not be able to record that the run has occurred, and you'll be stuck on 1970.

Hi GeorgeClark

Thanks for that. The persmissions were wrong - just fixed them up. I will give it a test run and tell you how I go.

That worked. Thanks again. How do I mark this as closed?

Ah. Like that.
