Error accessing Foswiki.org

Two questions, one solution

1) Error accessing Foswiki.org: Can't connect to foswiki.org:443

Hi!

When I try to list extensions available or search for an extension, I
get this error message:

Error accessing Foswiki.org: Can't connect to foswiki.org:443
(certificate verify failed)

Is it just a https certificate out of date??

2) foswiki.org is not a valid authority specifier (hostname). Lookup returned: Name or service not known

Default repositories not valid / not known (06/03/2021)

  • ~/bin/configure
  • Extensions category > Install, Update or Remove extensions tab
  • Extensions Repositories defaults to:
Foswiki.org=(https://foswiki.org/Extensions/,https://foswiki.org/pub/Extensions/)

However, a warning appears:
foswiki.org is not a valid authority specifier (hostname). Lookup returned: Name or service not known
foswiki.org is not a valid authority specifier (hostname). Lookup returned: Name or service not known

If you click the Review installed extensions button, you get an error:
Error accessing Foswiki.org: Can't connect to foswiki.org:443 (Name or service not known)

In the past, sometimes, it helped to connect to the non secure site:
Foswiki.org=(http://foswiki.org/Extensions/,http://foswiki.org/pub/Extensions/)

But now, nope:
Error accessing Foswiki.org: Can't connect to foswiki.org:80 (Name or service not known)

Solution: use the IP address instead
Foswiki.org=(http://2.56.98.129/Extensions/,http://2.56.98.129/pub/Extensions/)
