This question about Authentication or Authorisation: Answered

Authentication at /bin/configure

I'm trying to update a Foswiki from version 1.1.9 to 2.0.0.

I noticed, that in 2.0.0, when I try to access bin/configure page, Foswiki tries to authenticate by means of currently logged user.

When I click on link ("To login as another user please do so") to authenticate as different user, I am also logged out from the "ordinary" (bin/view) Foswiki. What is the reason/have I something misconfigured? In 1.1.9 it was possible to be logged as admin on /bin/configure and use different account to check other topics in the same web browser session.

This is one of the major changes in Foswiki 2.0. Configure does not use a separate user authentication. Please see http://foswiki.org/System/ReleaseNotes02x00#Configure_has_been_given_a_major_restructuring

Thank you for quick response. To be honest, I liked previous solution - could you tell me what is the reason to change it, please?
