WYSIWYG editor for Foswiki

Hello,

today I had a presentation in my company, when I tried to encourage to start creating documentation/ begin collaboration by means of Foswiki.
We need something which supports typing an equations, create hierarchical structure of documents, Active Directory support and advanced permissions management.
It seems for me that Foswiki is an ideal solution.

Unfortunately, it was mentioned that WYSIWYG editor for Mediawiki is much more user-friendly and much more powerful:
Moreover, if there's so beautiful, easy to use editor, there must be WYSIWYG formula editor instead of typing LateX (as it is in Foswiki).

To be honest - on screens, editor for Mediawiki really looks superior to that available in Foswiki. Is there any possibility to embed something more powerfull in Foswiki?

I found this list of Maths Expression editors here (not all of these are Javascript based)

I quickly looked at two javascript based WYSIWYG Maths Expression Editors

http://mathdox.org/formulaeditor/ with a connection to University Eindhoven
WIRIS with a connection Technical University of Catalonia

The 1st of these can produce MathML (not Latex) and is open source.

The second appears to be commercial; extensive features; integrates with TinyMCE and produces MathML & Latex.

Some work was done on integrating CKEditor into Foswiki which may provide an even better editing experience. WIRIS also integrates into CKditor.

In short, Foswiki can already achieve some of your needs (as you noted), and I am sure you can gain the extra features you are after, but that will probably take some work to complete the integration. You can always contact a Support/WikiConsultants to help you with this.
