Feature Proposal: A plugin for booking/scheduling resources

Motivation

In a company or a scientific institute, there is a need for scheduling or booking resources like rooms, machines/devices etc. It would be nice to have this integrated in Foswiki to have it all of one piece. This way customizations and cross-referencing would be easy; e.g. a user accesses the topic of a scientific instrument, where he gets all relevant information and at the bottom of the page, a schedule is INCLUDEd, where one can see at a glance when there is free measuring time.

Description and Documentation

There are some quite nice open source applications available like e.g. http://php.brickhost.com or http://mrbs.sourceforge.net , but they don´t offer the advantages of Foswiki. Check out their demos to get an idea of which features it should have.

This could be handled e.g. with an extra "Bookings" web and an infrastructure in the manner of Foswiki´s task web.

Additionally to a fixed date schedule, a queuing mode would be appreciated as well, for resources where the absolute time is not easy to plan, but where a waiting queue is needed.

Discussion

Parking the proposal. No developer committed for 2+ years. Note that plugins don't require a FeatureProposal unless it's being proposed as a core extension.
