LeilaPearson Would Like to Check-in
Who am I?
I'm an Electrical Engineer who has been working primarily as an embedded software developer, development manager, and QA manager for the last 15 years.
What do I want?
write access to
SVN for the following branches:
Core
wikiplugins
What can I do?
My programming background is mainly C & C++ in embedded systems, but I administered a TWiki site for about 4 years at a previous company, I've just installed a Foswiki site at my new company (upgrading from a 6 year old TWiki site), and would say my Perl is "not bad" at this stage (still learning all the time).
I did reasonably extensive updates to the XpTrackerPlugin at my last company - which I unfortunately didn't contribute back and don't have now that I'm at a new company, so I'm pretty familiar with how Plugins and the wiki core are structured, and how to get things done.
Why do I want to do it?
I like to learn things and dabble. Administering Foswiki, and enhancing it, give me the opportunity to improve my skills in Linux, Perl, Apache, Javascript, and CSS.
I actually enjoy finding and fixing bugs - and don't have a huge amount of spare time to develop stuff from scratch, so I see myself mainly helping to improve things that are already mostly there (and are things that we run into at our own Foswiki site here).
In general, I like to help people and do useful stuff. The Foswiki Community seems like a good place to do both. I'm also a huge fan of wikis for collaboration and information sharing, and Foswiki is undoubtedly one of the best.
